introduction

Hi, I'm Yair Cordoba and I go to Carbondale Community High School. Right now I'm in Mrs.Hayes class. She is my English teacher.Now we are in the poetry unit, therefore we are making a poetry book. The next six poem you are going to read came from some experiences I had in some point in life. Others I just made them up.My favorite one is "A life well lived." This is my favorite because is about my father. He was always nice to my brother, mom, and me. As i wrote it i thought about him. The least favorite one is the "New music." I didn't really thought about it too much because I'm not good at making music. I just listen to it. Poetry is hard. Because you need to think a lot, and some poems might rhyme. But is easier to make free poems then poems that rhyme. I learned that poem isn't for me. So I don't have any plans of making more poems. Unless is for a grade. But still poems are cool because some might touch you or even make you remember something you had forgotten long ago.

more than a trip

Waiting to arrive at a place I dont know
A place where there are a lot of games
Where everybody will have fun.
but the best part aren't the games,
neither the hotel with a hot tube.
The best part is was that my family was having a fun time
live for the journey not the destination

Before I die alone
I see my life passing through my own eyes
I see my friends telling me that doesn't matter how you started,
what matters is how you end.
Now I will die alone with no one by my side
wishing that I could go back in time
and change everything
but is too late now

You had two kids, wishing they could be like you
waking up at five and returning at midnight
having only a day to spend time with them
but it was all worth it because now they know who they want to be
they don't want to be you
but they want to be like you
that personewho always loved them
and  who took care of them and their mother.

My life as it is

As I wake up I turn off the alarm
wishing I could have more time to sleep
but doesn't matter who or what you do
there is always something you most  do.
I go to school to get good grades but all I do is play.
when I get home I do my work and at the end of the day
I go to bed wishing that tomorrow would be a different day.

     This book is a dystopian, an imaginary place where everything is bad as it can be, novel because it takess place when a society with an overpowering government controls the lives and resources of twelve different districts. Katniss is a sixteen-year-girl that lives in District 12. She is  the main character of the story. Each year, as punishment for the rebellion District 13 made agains the capital, two children from each district are chosen by lottery to fight each other to the death in an arena. The event is called the Hunger Games and is televised for everyone to see in the Capitol. Who wins is given food and a life of ease for themselves and their families, with rewards as food and resources for their district. Katniss  volunteers after her little sister,Prim,  is chosen to participate in the hunger games. Peeta, a baker's son, is also chosen to fight in the Games. Katniss and Peeta are whisked away to the Capitol to fight other children in the artificial landscape created for the arena. Until only one is alive.
  
     An allegory,a story that symbolize something else, can be found after the death of Katniss ally,Rue. Katniss covers the body of Ruel with flowers to symbolize Rue's humanity and a tribute to her short life. By calling attention to the sacrifice that Rue made during the Hunger Games, Katniss challenge the idea that Hunger Games and the people who play them are more than just an entertainment for the people at the Capitol. For Katniss Rue wasn't just a character on a television show. She was and she is a human being who is worthy of respect, and admiration.As Katniss said,"I want to do something, right here, right now, to shame them, to make them accountable, to show the Capitol that whatever they do or force us to do that there is a part of every tribute they can't own. That Rue was more than a piece in their Games. And so am I." (Collins 237) By covering Rue with flowers she is rebelling against the Capitol.After the dead of Rue Katniss decided to go on and win the games.So she can prove to the Capitol that they can't take their humanity from them.
      


      There some  allusions, a reference to a well know person, place or thing,or another work of literature, in The Hunger Games  that Suzanne Collins mention on her interview. She said that she was inspire in the  ancient Roman Empire. Suzanne said that Panem is supposed to be like ancient Rome. Panem comes from the Latin expression 'Panem et Circenses' which translates into "Bread and Circuses." This  refers to the techniques the roman empire used to keep the audience happy. The Hunger Games and the Arena are another allusion.They are similar to the Colosseum in Rome. There gladiators would fight to the death for the entertainment of the citizens.

     I saw  this example of satire,the use of irony,sarcasm,ridicule to expose something else in a work of literature, in the novel is that the capitol use the games to show everybody that they can do anything they want and that the people  can't do nothing about. They can take any children to the arena and kill him for the fun of it. They control everything and anything that goes in and out of the districts. They can chose who dies and who live to work for them. But there is a district that will reveal against the capitol. District 13, knows that there is one thing that the Capitol can't take away neither control, their humanity.

When i finish reading this article I realize that many bullies  are made because they were bullied ones in their life or more times. They are many kids who says things to the bullies like this girl name Barbara said, “I actually get in there and say, ‘You guys need to cool it off because you will actually start fighting and not talking to each other anymore.’” If every body see what she see there wouldn't be anymore bullies. But no one things the same and is hard to make them see whats wrong. The student are the one that can help someone from being bullied.  They can do a lot of things to help them.

        Students can tell a teacher that he or someone else is being bullied. Yesterday at my school s teacher told us (my class ) that we can tell a teacher or someone else and it would be anonymous. That means that no one would know that it was you the one who say it. That is a good way to stop people from being bullied. One thing I learn by reading the article was that some people do want to stop  bullies from bully someone else. It says that this boy was a bully because he wanted to feel how the bully felt when he bullied him. And he also wanted to make the bully feel how he felt. Some bullies are made because  they were bullied. Some bullies are made because they want to take the anger they feel inside on someone else. So now the question we should ask is how can we stop people from being bullies and from being bullied?

             Tyler wants to kill him self because he can't confront his problems. Everybody told him to be a man but nobody told him how. No one  is going to teach anyone how to be a man because they have to do it by them self. There are only two things you can do with your problems, one: you can solve them or two: you can scape them, but that is not a good choice. Tyler chose to scape them and that was a mistake. He never confront them. "You loaded the gun and put it in my hand. I blame my self, too. I let you do it." (Anderson 241) He let the problems consume him until the only thought that pass through his head was to kill him self. He even try to end his life but he couldn't. "I had the gun in my mouth and my finger in the trigger." (Anderson 240)

             The best way to solve your problems if to confront them. You can learn from your mistakes. By escaping form them Tyler made even  more problems for him. He didn't knew what to do or think. He only thought of killing him. He thought that by being  dead everything would be solve. But at the end he finaly confont them. Then he decided to stop thinking about killing him self.
      

I chose this picture because is what he chose  at the end of the book. When he finish the game he was playing he had to chose between becoming the new lord of the darkness or he could take a gamble and be reincarnated. When I saw that it said that he chose wisely I was like WHAT!!!!!??? The book cant end like this,not this way. Than I thought about it for a long time and finally the answer hit me. He chose reincarnation.That was the most logical answer.
      He chose to be reincarnated because he didn't want to be live with all the bad things. That game is almost as his real life. He had to chose between being the same and never confront his problems or change and be done with all the bad thing. I didn't like how the book end but I like how his life is reflected by the game he played.That give the book a good reason to read it. And to show us what we need to do with our problems. To solve them or to hide from them.

Clothing optional

In chapter 22 in the book twisted Tyler talks about a day where girls dress however they want. That day is known as clothing optional day. Sexual harassment can occur when girls dress  too sexy and boys can get a little too exited. And when that happens the school  punish them but the school is the one that let the girls dress like that. They should have a cloth code( not uniforms). Some parts of your body shouldn’t be showing to everybody. If the girls want to get notice that’s not the best way to do it. Because they are making the guy think something else beside they are only going to like them because of the way they look not because of the way you are.

      There are a lot of ways to get someone to notice you. You can do stupid things. You can be kind and  nice to everybody. But some people do tend to do stupid things and one of those things is dress inappropriate. Sometimes people dress in a different way from everyone else  to get attention when really they are getting bad looks because they are  different and because of haters. Girls tend to hate other girls because they are prettier. That's why we don't have that in our school. That is a better way to stop sexual harassment.

     On Tuesday, a guy named Josh Gunderson came to our school to talk about dates on facebook and what kind of people are in facebook and about bullying someone else. He told us that giving away to much information can be dangerous. Weirdl  people can be reading our posts. He told us a story that he read in the news that a girl was fallowed by a weird guy from her soccer game to her house.He tried to open the door while she was taking a shower. Luckily she set the alarm before getting into the shower so she closed the door and call the police. All because she post that she was going to a soccer game and what her number was and that she was going to be alone at her house.
     
    He told us another story about a new girl that went to a high school and that a senor guy asked her to the prom. The next day some girls that wanted to go out with the senor guy found out that she asked the new girl so they started bully her. Days later she was walking to her house after school and the girls that bullied her were fallowing her. When she was a block away from her house they started to throw thing at her. When she got home she went to her closet and end her life. The next day the girls found out that she was dead. After school one of the girls post on facebook "mission acomplish."
